Gear Sub-Menu F2 Detailed Help Notes
"Coordinate x-y help"
Produces a graphic display that shows the screen coordinate
system. It shows the screen boundaries and the present plot
boundaries and their coordinates.
"Left margin of plot"
Allows the user to move the left margin of the plot
if you want to! It is possible to move information
off (or onto) the screen that is displayed to the
right of the plot. Not normally used but it may be
useful.
"Right margin of plot"
Allows the user to move the right margin of the plot
if you want to! It is possible to move information
off (or onto) the screen that is displayed to the
right of the plot. Not normally used but it may be
useful.
"Title for horizontal axis"
Allows the user to change the bottom title on the x-axis.
Whatever string the user types in will be displayed on the
plot. (79 chars max.) The upper title of the plot
is automatically generated from user input on the first
page. Normally this is "gear inches".
"X-position of title"
Allows the user put in the x-coordinate of where the
x-axis title will be displayed on the display.
"Y-position of title"
Allows the user put in the y-coordinate of where the
x-axis title will be displayed on the display.
"2nd horizontal label."
Allows the user to change the bottom title on the x-axis.
Whatever string the user types in will be displayed on the
plot. (79 chars max.) The upper title of the plot
is automatically generated from user input on the first
page. Normally this is "cog".
"Beginning (lowest) gear inch"
Allows the user to customize the plot to the kinds of
ratios they are using. Enter a little less than the
smallest gear inch ratio you are using. For example
if you have a granny 27 inch gear then you might
put in 20 here. If you are a racer with legs of
iron and titanium knees then you might put in 40
if the lowest you have is a 42 inch gear.
"Ending gear inch value."
Allows the user to customize the plot to the kinds of
ratios they are using. Enter a little more than the
highest gear inch ratio you are using. For example
if you have a 100 inch gear then you might enter
110 here.
"Divisions on x-axis"
Determines how many tick marks will be generated
on the x-axis. To pick nice numbers one might
want to put a tick mark every gear inch so one
would subtract the "Beginning..." from the
"Ending..." above and enter it here. For example
if "Beginning..." was 20 and "Ending..." was 100
then 80 would make one tick mark per gear inch.
160 would make a tick mark every 1/2 gear inch
etc.
"Automatic tick mark update"
This is a software switch that controls whether
"Division on x-axis" above will be updated when
"Beginning..." and/or "Ending..." values are
changed. Each tick will always be set to
1 gear inch apart when this is on but the user
may then change "Division..." manually even
with this on. Since some may would rather do
things themselves they can turn this feature
off and the only time "Divisions.." will change
is when they do it themselves!
"No. x-axis divisions before a label"
Determines how many tick marks will be skipped before a
label will be displayed. This can be used to prevent
overwriting of the horizontal labels.
